InfoFlow Episode 8.073 – 1/12/23

[Infoflow intro] + [pledge of allegiance]
ADEN: Welcome back to Infoflow, Blazers. Today is Thursday, January 11th. I’m ADEN
ANDREA: And I’m ANDREA. Earlier this month Mayor Muriel Bowser vetoed the overhaul of D.C.’s criminal code, and now there’s a move in the council to override her veto. The revisions were shaped by the D.C. Criminal Code Reform Commission, and it underwent numerous public hearings. But Bowser and D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee opposed parts of the measure.
ADEN: Two New York Democratic congressmen filed a House Ethics Committee complaint Tuesday against Rep. George Santos, the freshman New York Republican who recently was found to have lied about and embellished details on his resume. It has been said that Santos  “misled voters in his District about ethnicity, his religion, his education, and his employment and professional history, among other things.” Citizens are now  submittin complaints as well.
ANDREA: Around 25,000 U.K. ambulance workers went on strike Wednesday, walking out for the second time since December in an ongoing dispute with the government over pay. Health officials have warned that the impact of Wednesday’s strike will be worse than the one held in December because more staff, including call handlers, are walking out. People were advised to call in cases of life-threatening emergencies — such as cardiac arrest or a serious road accident — and ambulances will still respond to such situations. Government officials met trade union leaders on Monday but there has been no breakthrough in negotiations.
ADEN: Now, let’s watch the final installment of blazer history.
