InfoFlow Episode 7.165– 6/10/22

[Infoflow intro] + [pledge of allegiance]
GABE: Hello Blazers, today is Friday, June 10th, and welcome to the first installment of infoflow after dark, where the lights are dim, the jokes are bad, and there’s actual coffee in these mugs. I’m GABE
HABIB: And I’m HABIB.  Throughout June, we will be able to see Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn in a row without any assistance from a telescope. All 5 of these planets only line up like they are right now once every few decades. The last time this alignment occurred was in December of 2004, and won’t happen again until 2040. To see them, just head out about 30 minutes before sunrise and hope for a clear horizon! It truly is out of this world.
GABE: A tortoiseshell kitten named Comet was adopted at a Nevada animal shelter. The tortoiseshell name is named after their unique coats that combine patches of colors like red, black, and brown. Comet is a super rare kitten, so rare that people refer to cats like him as the “unicorns of cats”, because most cats with this type of coat are female, since 2 X chromosomes are needed to produce the pattern. Only around 1 in 3,000 tortoiseshell cats are male, and that is because they have an extra X chromosome. We here at infoflow think all cats are pawesome.
HABIB: And now let’s head to an announcement from Silver Chips!
WILL: Hi Blazers, I’m William Ashford from Silver Chips Print, here with an exciting opportunity for next year. Silver Chips Sports is a new media arm of Silver Chips. We are looking to expand coverage of Blazer Athletics by uploading beat reports and broadcasts to social media. Beat reports are short blurbs, recapping a Blazer game in 200-300 word write-ups, and broadcasting would involve live commentary over the air during the games themselves. You can cover any sports, fall, winter, or spring! If you are interested, please contact us at silverchipssports@gmail.com, follow us on instagram @scpsports or on twitter @SCP_Sports, and fill out the google form provided. Also, lookout for flyers around the school! Help us get the ball rolling!
HABIB: Thanks Will, and be sure to reach out to their social media or email you’re interested!
GABE: Today is the last day to audition for Intonenation, Blair’s acapella group! They will be hosting auditions in room 5 at lunch. If you love to sing and/or know how to beatbox, join them at the audition. They hope to see you tune!
HABIB: A reminder that the Young Democrats have organized a walkout to take place today at 1:00 pm. The walkout is in support of gun reform and against violence in schools following the shooting in Uvalde. You can find more information @blair4gunreform on Instagram and TikTok.
GABE: And now let’s go to Yasmeen for this weekend’s weather!
