The university of Maryland has partnered with the International Rescue committee or IRC to house Afghan refugees for up to a year while the IRC finds permanent housing and employment. The families will arrive over several weeks and have undergone background checks and health screenings. |
| BELLA: An audit from the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission has found that metrorail has inadequate training, coordination, and supervision. Metrorail had not been effectively training operators on all railcar types, prioritizing the 7000 fleet which had been sidelined due to wheel set issues. |
