InfoFlow Episode 7.096 – 2/17/22

[Infoflow intro] + [pledge of allegiance]
BELLA: Welcome back to Infoflow, Blazers. Today is Thursday, February 17th. I’m BELLA.
GWEN: And I’m GWEN. Today’s Black History Month fact is about Robert Louis Johnson the first black millionaire and founder of Black Entertainment Television cable company or BET. In 1991 BET became the first black controlled company to be listed on the New York Stock exchange and was sold to Viacom for $3 billion in 2001. Robert Johnson continued to lead the company until 2005.
BELLA:  Governor Larry Hogan announced this past Sunday that he is considering a 2024 presidential run. He says that his current position in the senate is not the “right fit” for him. However, he insists that he will remain focused on his job as governor through the rest of his term, until January 2023.
GWEN: Duke energy, one of the largest electric power holding companies in the US has announced that they will phase out coal to less than 5% of energy production by 2030 and double their capacity for renewable energy. They aim to completely phase out coal by 2035. This comes after the Bipartisan clean energy and emissions mandate was signed into effect by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and requires the state to reduce carbon emissions by 70% by 2030 and reach neutrality by 2050.
BELLA: Now let’s take a look at an update about our lost and found bin.
