[Infoflow intro] + [pledge of allegiance]
BELLA: Welcome back to Infoflow, Blazers. Today is Tuesday, February 15th. I’m BELLA.
GWEN: And I’m GWEN. Today’s Black History Month fact is about Shirley Chrisholm. She became the first Black Women to serve in congress in 1968 and served seven terms. Originally placed on the forestry committee she demanded reassignment and was placed on the Veterans affairs committee and later on the Education and Labor committee. Shirley Chrisholm was a founding member of the congressional Black Caucus in 1969. In 1972 she became the first Black Woman to seek presidential nomination from one of the major parties.
BELLA: The Federal Emergency Response or FEMA has announced that a disaster mortuary operation response team will be dispatched to help Maryland’s autopsy backlog. The country is currently experiencing a medical examiner shortage nationwide.
BELLA: Now let’s go to Aiden and Oliver to hear about the colesville collective’s recent show
Collsville directive

GWEN: Have you ever wanted time to improve your basic math skills?  Now there is a great opportunity to work on important basic math skills that you may have missed or misunderstood in prior math classes.  Become comfortable with negative numbers, fractions, decimals, and other basic skills needed to be more successful in your current math class. There are no assignments, so make sure to come to room 263 approximately 10 minutes after lunch begins on odd days.
BELLA: Now let’s hear from Christy, a member of our fellow publication Silver Chips, about a story in their newest print.
CHRISTY: Hi, I’m Christy, and this cycle, I spoke to Chris Williams, a Blair alum who was recently selected by NASA as part of the 2021 Astronaut Candidate Class. In my story titled “From Blair to blast-off,” Williams shares how his journey to becoming an astronaut and his passion for scientific research began right here at Blair. He also gives the inside scoop on NASA’s astronaut selection process, and the agency’s high profile upcoming missions. Be sure to grab a copy of Silver Chips and flip to D6 to read about Williams’ star-studded career and his advice for budding scientists at Blair.
BELLA: Make sure to pick up a copy of Silver Chips in your English classroom or in front of the media center and read about William’s story and the many other amazing stories in this cycle!
GWEN: Ever wanted to practice your public speaking skills and sharpen your wit? Head down to room 147 at lunch on Wednesdays for Mr. Bramble’s forensics team. In forensics, they improvise their extemporaneous speaking, perform dramatic works, and more, so come down this every Wednesday, at lunch, to room 147!
BELLA: And that’s all for today’s show. Check out our website at bnconline.net to submit any announcements, and follow us @bnc_blair on instagram, @bncblair on tiktok, and on twitter @bncblair.
