InfoFlow Episode 7.005 – 9/13/21

[Infoflow intro] + [pledge of allegiance]
SKYE Good Morning, Blazers, today is Monday, September 13th. Welcome to Infoflow, I’m SKYE.
YASMEEN: and I’m YASMEEN. Last Thursday, President Biden signed an order requiring all federal employees to be vaccinated. This action comes as a result of the rising covid cases across the United States. And here in our area, MCPS board of education has passed a resolution requiring all MCPS staff and student athletes to be vaccinated in order to participate in winter and spring sports.
SKYE: New york fashion week was last week, coming to a close on Sunday. Designers such as Christian Siriano, Brandon Maxwell and Gabriela Hearst headlined the event, showing off their spring and summer collections. Model Gigi Hadid also made an appearance, walking for Proenza Schouler. Attendees were required to show proof of vaccination before entering.
YASMEEN: A protective fence around the capitol building was put up after the January 6th riots. Now, over six months later, plans are in motion for it to be reconstructed. The reconstruction of the fence is prompted by the possibility of a second riot, a march organized by supporters of the January 6th riot demanding justice for those who have been convicted for crimes committed then. Although it is not certain that the fence will be brought back, the capitol police have stated that they will do whatever it takes to insure the integrity of the capitol.
SKYE: The metro may be expanding its blue line. Ridership has been surging, and transportation officials are looking for ways to control the new growth. A station in Georgetown and a stop in the National Harbor have both been proposed. The new changes would cost over 20 billion dollars to implement, but they would add over 180,000 new riders a week. A final plan will be released sometime in the next year.
YASMEEN: And now let’s head to Sam and Alyssa, for some advice for our new Freshman!
