SODA: And I’m SODA. In the news, 1.5 more days left of school!!
CATHERINE: Do you like money? Do you like being rich? Do you like helping out the community? Join Blair’s Robotics Team’s Business subteam! They make over $40,000 a year and they’re the wealthiest club at Blair. If you want experience running a nonprofit, making tons of money, or organizing community service events attended by hundreds, if not thousands, of people, join The Blair Robot Project’s Business subteam today! They meet Thursdays from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM and weekends from 10 AM to 5 PM in Room 361. Email blair.robot@gmail.com for more information or look out for their recruitment visits and announcements next year.
SODA:There are still spots left to sign up for the trip to Peru next year. It is a nine day educational trip to experience the Great Civilization of the Incas. You will meet other students from all over the US. You will visit Lima, Sacred Valley, Cusco and Machu Pichu. You will get to experience the amazing cuisine that Peru is known for and get the opportunity to practice your Spanish with the locals. If you are interested and want more information or have questions please contact Ms Jampolsky in room 153. Sign up before it’s too late!
CATHERINE: Hey Blazers! It is time again for summer reading. The brochures are available online on Blair’s web page. If you would like a hard copy, ask your teacher today or tomorrow, Thursday, June 14th, the English Department is checking out books to students. Come to room 142 and get a book. Be ahead of the game, and don’t leave school without your summer reading text in hand. Have fun in the sun and have fun surfing through a great book. Happy Reading, Blazers!
SODA: Have you ever wanted to win an Olympic medal? Do you love biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, or engineering? If so, please consider joining the Science Olympiad team. You could become a specialist in areas ranging from “Disease Detectives” to “Dynamic Planet” to “Forensics”. If so, please email mbhs.science.olympiad@gmail.com for more information.

SODA: Did you know that you could join the marching band without being enrolled in a fall music class? Did you play an instrument in middle school? Are you a pianist or a drummer? They have openings for the fall season – especially for trumpets and percussionists, but they have open space for all instruments. They rehearse some over the summer so they can catch up new players. PLUS – Marching band members receive 50 SSL hours! Come check them out Tuesday and Thursday this week after school as they do a run through of the fall halftime show. They will be in the band room (room 14). If you can’t make it but want to learn more, contact Mr. Oldham in room 14 or go to mbhsmusic.com
CATHERINE: Are you interested in the fields of science, technology, or engineering and are a current sophomore or junior? Then sign up for Science National Honor Society! Please go to room 329 and ask Mrs. Hart for an application or contact snhs.mbhs@gmail.com if you have any questions. Applications are due the last day of school!
SODA: Math Honor Society is accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year. To apply, go to https://tinyurl.com/mhsapply2018. Applications are due October 5, by noon. You must have taken up to Geometry in order to apply. You will need a recommendation from a current or former math teacher. If you have questions, see Ms. Hsu is room 235.
