CATHERINE: Hello Blazers! Today is Tuesday, September 26th, 2017. Happy Lumberjack Day! In recent news; many NFL players, coaches, and entire teams kneeled during the national anthem this past weekend to protest police brutality. And now, the pledge.

CATHERINE: And I’m CATHERINE. The weather for today will be a high of 83 degrees and partly cloudy!

CATHERINE:  The Asian Literature Club will be meeting on Thursday, September 28th in room 157 after 7th period. Join them to plan out what books to read this year! Snacks will probably be provided. Email asianlitclub@gmail.com for more details!
SAM: Are you always watching Law & Order? Do you enjoy arguing? Have you ever been in any legal trouble? If so, join Mock Trial! Their interest meeting will be tomorrow after ninth period in room 274!
CATHERINE: Hey Seniors! If you missed your senior picture date, but still hope to be SEEIN-YOUR pictures, yearbook will be holding retakes on October 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th in the auditorium throughout the day. This includes anyone in the class of 2018, even if you’re officially listed as a junior or a sophomore. If you just want to take your yearbook photo, it is FREE. For those of you who want the full package, you can pay online or you can pay later.
SAM: Hey Blazers! Are you fresh out of freshman year? If you’re a sophomore and you want to help make great changes, you should join Sophomore class council! The first meeting is this Thursday in room 251. We hope to see you there.
CATHERINE: The Minority Scholars Program meets every Tuesday in room 253 after school at 2:45 until 3:20. Peer tutoring and study groups are also available during lunch in rooms 253 and 151. See Mr. Smith, Mr. Culver, Ms. Edwards, or Ms. Bruno for more information.
SAM: Public speaking announcement: Blair’s Public Speaking and Performance Club meets this Wednesday! Do you act or perform? Would you like to learn how to? If so, stop by room 133 at 3:30 to learn how to improve your speaking skills! All vocal chords are welcome!
CATHERINE: Do you like art, literature, and graphic design? You should join Silver Quill, Blair’s literary arts magazine! They meet on Tuesdays after 9th period in room 141, the first meeting is today. There QUILL be snacks!
SAM: Hey Blazers! Let’s honor the Hispanic Heritage through History and Art. Students and staff, enjoy the giant reproductions during the week of September 25th through the 29th, including one of the most famous of his paintings, called Guernica. The exhibit celebrates art, Spanish language, history and culture!  Teachers, make your reservations and bring your students to visit the different stations that are waiting for all.
CATHERINE: Do you want SSL hours? Would you like to help your fellow Blazers improve academically? If you are a junior or senior, sign up to be a BLISS Online Tutor! SAM: Attention Juniors! The PSAT is coming up. Pick up a form from the Counseling office and return it by this Friday to pay for it!
CATHERINE: Calling all poets, writers, rappers, singers, beat-boxers, and creative thinkers. Blair’s Slam Poetry will begin meeting every Thursday in 252 at 3:00 pm. If you can’t make the meeting, talk to Ms. Edwards in her classroom 252.
SAM: Attention Blazers! Wrestling is holding open mats from 3:30 to 5:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Even if you’ve never played a sport before, grapple on over to the wrestling room!
CATHERINE: Juniors! All junior wear is on pre-sale now during your lunch period! During 5th period in room 250! And during 6th in room 253! Remember to get your shirt! Show Blair and 2019 Class spirit. Shirts are $15 and hoodies are $25. Have any questions ask Wilbert or Karen your class officers. Also go to their meetings on Wednesday’s in room 250 after school.
