This episode is in honor of the icons who created a revolutionary Queer culture. House & Ballroom Culture, also known as Voguing and Waacking, can be traced back to the Harlem Renaissance Drag scene. In the 80s and during the HIV Epidemic, Ballroom Houses became safe havens for Black, Latinx, and Italian-American Queer disowned youth in the NYC area. These Houses became legendary, and their names we praise to this day: The Gorgeous House of Gucci, The House of Balenciaga, The House of Dupree, and The Legendary House of Labeija, to name a few. For years, many people may have profited off of House & Ballroom culture without giving any credit, but today we honor these icons.
