The Montgomery County Education Association is also calling for free meals to all students and the elimination of fees for field trips and other activities in the proposed $3.15 billion operating budget for fiscal year 2024.The union said that the cost of living in Montgomery County has risen more than 60% since 2002, yet teacher salaries have fallen by 15-17% when adjusted for inflation. Many believe the lack of nutrition for students due to lunch prices is impacting their learning negatively.  ANDREA: As of early Thursday morning, just over 440 flights in, to and out of the U.S. were delayed, according to flight tracking website FlightAware a paltry number compared to the thousands of flights that were delayed Wednesday after the system that sends pilots key information they need to fly suffered the outage.A senior government official said the issue was caused by a corrupted file that affected both the primary and backup systems of the FAA’s Notice to Air Mission system, or NOTAM. Officials continue to investigate the issue. ADEN: A critically endangered Western chimpanzee, which conservationists say is the “world’s rarest chimpanzee”, has been born at a zoo. Chester Zoo said the birth was a “small but vital boost” to the global population of the species which was “under huge threat” in the wild. We welcome this small creature with open arms.
