SAMMI: Welcome back to Infoflow, Blazers. Today is Monday, June 13th, I’m SAMMI
LEVI: And I’m LEVI. While Bill Clinton first declared June as Gay and Lesbian Pride month in 1999, Barack Obama expanded it to include the bisexual and transgender community, officially starting in June of 2011.
SAMMI: Maryland governor Larry Hogan has unveiled a long-term COVID-19 preparedness plan that seeks to expand treatments and tools available to Maryland residents. Called COVIDReady Maryland, the plan aims to keep residents who contract COVID-19 healthy and out of the hospital while maintaining a state of readiness against future outbreaks. Among other things, the plan also includes an expansion of the state’s Test to Treat infrastructure, which seeks to match vulnerable patients who’ve just tested positive with effective prescriptions within the same visit.
LEVI: Moderna is seeking FDA approval of a new omicron-specific booster shot, which produces more antibodies against omicron. Moderna executives said that they are confident the updated vaccine would still provide additional protection against newer omicron subvarients; researchers tested this booster dose against BA.1, while subvarients like BA.4 and BA.5 are ones more commonly circulating right now.
SAMMI: This Pride Month, Montgomery county is launching the first of its kind survey for all LGBTQ+ residents. The county aims to learn more about  health, wellness, access to resources, and certain groups in the community that may be getting left out. The link to the survey can be found below [https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/partnerships/community-survey.html] and on the county’s website. County Executive Marc Elrich, said those in the LGBTQ+ community should participate in the survey so the county can better understand their concerns and deliver what they need.
