MIREYA: And I’m MIREYA. Naomi Judd, a grammy-winning country music star has passed away at 76. Judd topped the country music charts in the 80’s and 90’s with her daughter as a singing duo named the Judds. Her passing was announced a day before Naomi and Wyonna Judd were scheduled to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. |
SIENA: The Maryland National History Day competition took place this weekend and Blair was fortunate to be represented by 7 students. Luca Itman, Amalia Ahn, Ruchel Limbos presented on the refugee crisis that followed the Vietnam War. Lily Scheckner qualified for Nationals with a paper about the failings of the 15th amendment in ensuring African American voting rights and Shreya Ohri, Emily Kretschmer, and Eloise Carter also qualified for the National History Day competition to be held in June for their presentation on government-funded childcare during WWII in the United States. These are the first students from Montgomery Blair to qualify as representatives of the state of Maryland for the National History Day competition. Please congratulate these students when you see them in the hall. |
MIREYA: The freshmen student council is holding a chipotle fundraiser on Tuesday, May 10th. 33% of the revenue will be invested in the freshmen council. To participate in the fundraiser, order something online using the code: CXHFNH2, or show the flier in the store on May 10th. |

MIREYA: MCAP Testing is taking place throughout the month of May starting with Algebra 1 and MISA through Math and Science classes and followed by English 10 and Government the week of May 16th. Please check your email, MyMCPS Classroom announcements and QR codes around the building for your testing information. Participation in these tests is a graduation requirement. SIENA: There is a Horticulture plant sale today and tomorrow during lunch and after school. The plant sale will be on the greenhouse patio (near room 210) during lunch, and the Colesville parking lot after school until 3:30pm for the community. Come support the hard work of the Horticulture students, Grab a gift for Mother’s Day, or start your own veggie Garden! They have flowers, native plants, veggies and herbs! Prices range from $1-7 and it is cash only. |
