| LAUREN: And I’m Lauren. The Biden Administration has announced plans to create a national action plan to research long covid. The plan aims to characterize long covid, create estimates on its prevalence, and develop a treatment and care model. |
| AILEEN: The Oklahoma house on Tuesday have approved a near total ban on abortions. Senate bill 612 makes performing any abortion not neccesary to save the life of the pregnant person a felony. It has been sent to Oklahoma’s governor Kevin Stitt who is expected to sign the bill. Once signed it will take effect starting Aug 26th. |
| LAUREN: Zoos in North America have begun moving their birds indoors as the deadliest avian flu in seven years spreads throughout the country. Nearly 23 million chickens and turkeys have died. Avian virus rarely spreads to humans with only 4 reported cases of low pathogenic avian influenza ever in the US. |
| AILEEN: Early Tuesday morning a fire was started on Bradley Blvd in Bethesda from an electric scooter’s lithium battery. The battery overheated causing the fire in the third story of the apartment building. One resident was taken to the hospital with minor burns. |
