DECLAN: And I’m Declan. Today’s Women’s history month fact is about Madeleine Albright, who served as the first female Secretary of State in the United States. Albright passed away last week but lived her life fiercely, championing causes that she believed in. Throughout her career, Albright pushed for the alliance to intervene in the Balkans to stop genocide and ethnic cleansing, sought to reduce the spread of nuclear weapons, and championed human rights and democracy across the globe. Madeleine Albright died from cancer at the age of 84. |
NAHOM: The county council approved a special $100,000 appropriation for the county department of recreation to engage elementary and middle school girls in volleyball, softball, lacrosse, and soccer this fiscal year. This funding aims to establish countywide recreational leagues for those sports. |
DECLAN: The Montgomery county 4-year graduation rate has risen to 91.4% this year which is higher than the state average, according to the Maryland Department of Education. Graduation rates have jumped 11.6% for students identified as Limited English Proficient in the class of 2021 over the previous year and 14.6% since the class of 2019. |

DECLAN: Girl Up is hosting a talent show! It will be held at lunch on March 30 in the auditorium and the fee to attend is $3. All proceeds will go to Ruth’s House, a women’s shelter that provides safe housing for women and children in DC. Come out and see their amazing performers for a good cause! |
NAHOM: On Wednesday you might get the chance to win Three Key Glock tickets. Go to the gym Wednesday during Lu,nch for a knockout game hosted by Silver Ships. The winner gets to take 2 friends to the concert on April 8th! Admission is $5. Game starts at 11:15! They hope to see you there! |
