SODA: And I’m Soda. Today’s weather will be chilly with a high of 57 and a low of 36. It’s no longer sweater weather blazers, it’s full blown winter jackets season. |
TRUNK: In the news, the government of France has begun clearing out a large migrant camp, nicknamed “The Jungle,” outside of the city of Calais. The 6,000 residents of the camp, mostly refugees from countries such as Sudan and Syria, are being processed and bussed to other parts of the country. |
SODA: Is calligraphy your calling? Do you love to draw? Join Chinese Calligraphy club! They meet in room 7 on the first Tuesday of every month. You can talk to Mr. Lee for more information. |
TRUNK: Want to make your voice heard? Go to the Montgomery County Youth Advisory Board at Paint Branch High School on November 8th at 6 PM. Food and transportation will be provided. If you need transportation, please sign up in the main office. See you there! |
SODA: Are you a Blair sophomore? The ACES program wants you! Mr. Medrano, the ACES academic coach at Montgomery Blair High School, provides support to help you get your degree, no matter your circumstances. Through this program, you can gain access to tutors, assistance with college admissions, financial aid, opportunities to visit area colleges, and other support services. The application is now open for current 10th graders, and the deadline is approaching soon! All activities provided by the ACES program are free. TRUNK: Speaking of sophomores, if you’re a 10th grader interesting planning school events, you should Join sophomore class council! Not an SGA member? Pick up an application form outside room 251. All applications are due by the 31st of October. |
SODA: Winter sports begin on November 15th, and the swim and dive team needs new members! If you’re interested, please attend one of the preseason meetings on Thursday, October 27th during both lunches. Get your lunch and head over to room 262 at 11:30am or 12:20pm. See Ms. Zarou if you have questions. |
TRUNK: Do you have a for English? Do you want to share your passion for English with others? If so, pick up an application to join Montgomery Blair’s National English Honor Society! Applications are now available outside of the CAP office and are due November 4th. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Fillman or Niki Patel at mbhsnehs@gmail.com. |
SODA: If you’re interested in trying out for Softball, you should attend an informational meeting to be held on Wednesday, October 26 at 3:25 in room 117. Important information about tryouts, winter conditioning, and winter clinics will be discussed. If you can’t make it, see Mr. Hoelman in the Boy’s PE office to learn more. |
TRUNK: Juniors and seniors, are you still looking for colleges to apply to? Do you have burning questions for college admission reps? If so, take advantage of a FREE field trip to a college fair, sponsored by the Hispanic College Fair Incorporation. This fair will take place on November 3rd. Permission forms are in the Career Center. Don’t miss out on this free opportunity! |
SODA: The No Labels Club is dedicated towards the acceptance of all people regardless of race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other minority statuses.
