SERENA: And I’m SERENA. In the news, Hawaii’s volcanic situation regarding Kilauea, has continued to worsen to the point where the government has been forced to make residents in certain areas of the island evacuate or face arrest.
SAM: Blazers! There are still yearbooks left, come by room 241 during 5th period to buy your yearbook. They will run out!! Books are $95.00 plus tax.
SERENA: Congratulations to Justin Gross, Sophia Johnson, Lena Ruther, and Seniors Sophie Falvey, Chaminda Hangilipola, Hermela Mengesha, and Lydia Wang, who were invited to perform last night at the Folger Shakespeare Library for their Board of Directors. Teacher, Kelly O’Connor, received a special congressional commendation signed by Jamie Raskin for her contributions to the arts.
SAM: On another note, Key Club is hosting a canned food drive to support the Difference Makers Kokua Foods Pantry. Kokua Foods delivers cooking staples to families who may not be able to afford them in the Takoma Park area. Please bring any canned and non perishable food items to the main office anytime from now to Wednesday, June 6th. They are especially looking for cooking essentials such as white rice, dry beans, shelf-stable milk, canned fruit, and boxed cereal. It’s KEY to donate to this noble cause!

SAM: Now let’s talk about upcoming tryouts and auditions. Do you LOVE to dance and perform!? The Varsity Poms team performs during Football and Basketball Season, and they have a good feeling about next competition season. All are welcomed to summer conditioning beginning tomorrow, June 5. SAM: All students interested in running on the cross country team in the fall should come to a meeting in room 313 during either lunch period on Thursday June 7th. If you cannot make it to the meeting, go see Ms. Bosse in room 313 for information about tryouts.
