TRUNK: In the news, Hurricane Matthew is predicted to hit the mainland United States this morning. Officials have so far ordered over 2 million residents of Georgia, Florida and South Carolina to evacuate as the storm system strengthens into a Category Four Hurricane. However, you don’t need to worry that much about the weather in this area this weekend, because the storm is predicted to go out to sea after passing by North Carolina. |
JESSICA: Need SSL hours? Do you understand how a library book shelf is organized? Are you good with putting things in order numerically and alphabetically? Consider volunteering 1-2 hours a week at the Woodlin Elementary School media center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 3-4pm. Want more details? TRUNK: Silver Spring Day School is looking for student volunteers to help out on Saturday, October 22nd, from 10:30am – 2:30pm at their annual Octoberfest. It will take place at Colesville Presbyterian Church, located at 12800 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. Students will earn a total of 4 SSL hours for their service. TRUNK: October is breast cancer awareness month, Blazers! Help our cheerleaders and poms support breast cancer research and wear pink on Friday, October 14. They’re hoping for an all school pink out! Stop by the attendance office and purchase pink wristbands for only $1.00 or pink lanyards for $2.00. Stop by the bake sale at the football game on October 14. |
JESSICA: Seniors, listen up! If you have not taken your senior portrait, the make-up days will be on October 11th, 13th, 14th, and 27th. The time and date of your make-up is on the posters under the stairs on Blair Boulevard. If you are graduating, but not listed as a senior, or need to be scheduled for any other reason, please fill out the form next to the posters and leave it in the adjacent manila envelope. TRUNK: Hey Blazers! Homecoming court applications are due at the end of this week and currently we have no applications for seniors, sophomore boys, and freshmen boys. Turn in yours soon! |
JESSICA: Hey Blazers! The BLISS Online tutoring website is up and running! They have tutors staffed in math, social studies, science, English, Spanish, and French from 4 pm to 10 pm Sunday through Friday. If you want to get help from live tutors, go to tutors.mbhs.edu and log in with your student ID and computer password. You can also find this link on the Edline homepage and the MBHS website. Anyone can and should use this resource for homework and studying help. If you have any questions, please email blissonlinetutors@gmail.com. |
TRUNK: Seniors! Did you miss out on senior unity day? Would you like to be treated with a continental breakfast on college readiness day, October 19th? You can purchase a senior shirt and sunglasses and get breakfast for only $20.00 at the attendance office. If you already have a senior shirt, then all you need to do is wear it on October 19 and head over to the SAC at 7:45 am for a delicious continental breakfast. |
JESSICA: Juniors and seniors, if you are planning a college visit, please submit a note from your parents before you go! Please include the date of absence and which college you will be visiting. |
