Show Intro
KENIA: Hey there, Blazers. Today is Wednesday, December 7th, 2016.
TRUNK: We’ve got another show for you today, but first, please stand for the pledge.
Pledge of Allegiance
KENIA: Welcome to Infoflow. I’m KENIA,
TRUNK: And I’m TRUNK. The weather today will be cloudy with a high of 50 degrees and a low of 33.
KENIA: In the news German chancellor Angela Merkel has recently called for a ban on full-face veils, saying the traditional Islamic clothing “should be banned wherever legally possible.” Her party has called for such a ban before, saying full-face veils do not fit into Germany’s culture.
TRUNK: Blazers, the Winter Clothing Drive has already started and will be going until this friday December 9th . Be sure to bring in any coats, scarves, gloves or any winter clothes. Donation boxes can be found in classrooms on every floor. You can also donate clothes during either lunch period in room 161, the SGA office. All donations will be given to the ESOL and Counseling departments who will then distribute them to students at Blair who need them.
KENIA: You’ve heard the news, you’ve protested and marched, and now you can DO something to help. Rolling Terrace Elementary School (RTES) needs your help hosting a CommUNITY dinner. Their CommUNITY Potluck Dinner will be held at Rolling Terrace Elementary School at 5:30-8:45 pm, Thursday, December 15th. 10-15 student volunteers are needed to help set up the room, serve food, clean up, mingle with the families and help facilitate discussions, or help watch kids. RTES serves a diverse community, and would really love to have a few bilingual volunteers who speak Amharic, French, or Spanish. Contact Mrs. Hanak or Mrs. Hiscock in room 130 if you would like to help as a list of volunteers will need to be generated beforehand. SSL hours will be granted to any Montgomery Blair students who help out with the event.
TRUNK: Hey Blazers! Silver Chips is searching for writers for their December guest column! We’d love if you sent us 500 words with your thoughts on the recent elections, the holidays, or anything you want. You can email submissions to silverchipsprint@gmail.com. If your column is picked to publish, in addition to getting published, you’ll also receive a holiday themed treat!
KENIA: During this time of political troubles it’s important to have difficult discussions. That’s exactly what a group of Blazers did with the Interracial Dialogue. Find out what happened with this video.
