| IYANU: And I’m Iyanu. In the news, our Blair Seniors are graduating TOMORROW! Be sure to congratulate any that you know, and wish them luck in their future endeavors. |
| SODA: The Spanish Honor Society is seeking applicants for the 2017-2018 school year. If you have at least a 3.5 GPA in your Spanish classes, and a 3.0 GPA overall, and will be at least a junior in Fall 2017 (and beginning at least Spanish 5) at that time), you are eligible to apply. Please obtain application forms in room 170 and see Ms. Araujo if you have any questions. The Spanish Honor Society is a great organization which undertakes charitable activities and hosts parties celebrating Hispanic culture. |
| IYANU: The 2017 Sankofa performance is now available on DVD for the low, low price of $10. You can purchase your copy by going to bnconline.net and clicking on the store tab at the top of the page, or you can swing by the TV studio, room 102, and pick up a copy in person. |
| SODA: Strange Adventures Music Festival is an annual festival aimed at showcasing musical talent from the Maryland and D.C. area. This year’s event will be on June 9th and 10th at St. Stephen’s Church on 16th street. Go catch Cool Baby, Swan Song, Djembe Jones, 800, Small dad, Mike of Doom, and a bunch of other dope acts. |
| IYANU: Rolling Terrace Elementary School is looking for volunteers for their Fun ‘n’ Fit Fest next Friday, June 16th. They are looking for students who are available any time between 3:30 PM and 9 PM. | SODA: Attention students, ALL SSL hours MUST be turned into the main office or room 130 drop box by June 9th to be logged for this school year. Again, the deadline for all second semester SSL hour forms is next Friday, June 9th. Don’t delay and be sure to turn in your forms today! | IYANU: Hey Blazers! If you missed the showing of the Gandhi Brigade film “To Serve and Protect” when it was at Blair, you have another chance to see it! Go support Alix Swann on earning her Girl Scout Gold Award, and go to the showing of the documentary and panel discussion, featuring Montgomery County Police, as well as Julian Norment, County Executive Liaison to the African American Community. The event will be today from 7-8:30 at the People’s Community Baptist Church (31 Norwood Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20905). They hope to see you there! |
| SODA: The Sophomore Class is having a ending of the year fundraiser!! Head out to the Four Corners Chipotle next Wednesday, June 7th from 5 to 9 PM. Bring your friends, bring your family, even your neighbor if you want! They want to raise as much as possible to get started for next year! Remember class of 2019 this is your fundraiser! |
| IYANU: There will be a meeting for anyone interested in playing field hockey this fall on Wednesday, June 7 afterschool in room 263. If you cannot make the meeting on Wednesday, be sure to see Ms. Lusby in room 263 to get all of the information for tryouts! |
| SODA: Are you interested in science and community service? Apply for Science National Honor Society. All juniors and Seniors that have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, a 3.5 GPA in science courses, and will be enrolled in an advanced or honors science class next year are eligible to apply. Applications will be available beginnings on Wednesday May 24th in room 329. All applications are due by Wednesday, June 7th. |
