CATHERINE: And I’m Catherine. In the news, an Australian real estate firm is offering a year’s worth of avocado toast to all customers. If you’re looking to buy a place down under, it comes with all you can eat avocado toast.
KENIA: Today’s weather will be sunny with a high of 92 and a low of 71.
CATHERINE: Silver Chips’ 2017 senior issue is coming out in June and they’d like to feature every graduating senior. Please let Chips know what your plans are for next year so that they can publish your name and “senior destination” in the June 2017 issue. KENIA: Do you want to relax, unwind, and create something fun? With a cup, some batteries, duct tape, and a piece of rubber tubing, you’ll be able to build a small motorized bot that lights up and spins. Blair media center’s first MakerSpace activity will be tomorrow after school. There will be two sessions, one at 2:30 and one after ninth period.
CATHERINE: It’s yearbook distribution week! Visit the Silverlogue table in the SAC during either lunch, today or tomorrow.
KENIA: The Bob Long Journalism Award, created in honor of former News4 director and Blair student Bob Long, is open to all Blazers. Create a short video individually or in a group of two to be considered for a cash award. Submissions are due by May 21st. To find more information about the scholarship, visit bnconline.net.
CATHERINE: Every year, more than 100 volunteers work together to make the AFI Documentary Film Festival: Washington DC’s premier filmmaking event. Volunteers are needed to assist in all areas of the festival from June 14th through 18th, by working at the box office and ushering at screenings or providing key social media and photography support. KENIA: Montgomery County Regional SGA is hosting the second annual Montgomery County Ted Talk. It will be held today from 6-8 PM at Richard Montgomery. There will be several esteemed speakers, including former SMOB and FiscalNote CEO Tim Hwang, as well as Blair’s very own Marley Majette.
CATHERINE: The 2017 Sankofa performance is now available on DVD for the low, low price of $10. You can purchase your copy by going to bnconline.net and clicking on the store tab at the top of the page, or you can swing by the TV studio, room 102, and pick up a copy in person. Act fast! Limited supply. It was an amazing show, and you’ll want to have a copy to remember it forever.
KENIA: It’s Spirit Week! There will be a table in the SAC all week. Stop on by with your spirit week gear to win a ticket. All of the tickets will go towards a raffle at the pep rally; the more tickets, the greater chance to win a Chipotle gift card.
