KENIA: Welcome to Infoflow. I’m Jessica, |
JESSICA: And I’m Kenia. Today’s weather will be partly cloudy with a high of 55 and a low of 37. |
KENIA: In the news, yesterday Blair students staged a walkout to protest Donald Trump winning last week’s election, and took to the streets. They closed down the westbound section of University Boulevard, and were escorted by police. This comes in the midst of multiple protests against Trump that have dominated the headlines for the past week. |
JESSICA: Did you know that approximately 79,000 to 81,000 of Montgomery County residents do not know where their next meals will come from? Please help support the canned food drive by bringing in any of the following items: canned goods as well as boxed cereal, tuna fish, rice and peanut butter. |
KENIA: Passionate about education for girls and women? Join Blair’s Girl Up Club, starting this Thursday at 3:30 in room 164 and work to help girls around the world get the education they deserve. |
JESSICA: Need SSL hours? You can walk with Mid-County United Ministries and join those fighting hunger in our community! They will meet in the parking lot of the Presbyterian Church of the Atonement, and walk three-quarters of a mile along Georgia Avenue to the Mid-County Regional Services Center in Wheaton, where the organization’s pantry and offices are located. The walk will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. Let’s honor Thanksgiving by making sure everyone has a seat at the table! |
KENIA: Any student interested in participating in the U.S. Biology Olympiad (USABO), should register and add their name to the Blair H.S. roster at www.cee.org. The contest is open to all students with any level of biology experience. The open exam will be administered at Blair in early February. Please see Ms. Bosse in room 373 if you have questions about the competition. |
JESSICA: Do you like food? Do you like helping out clubs here at Blair? Support the Science Olympiad team on Tuesday, November 15th at the four corners Chipotle from 5-9. Before you check out, make sure you let the cashier know you are with the Montgomery Blair Science Olympiad fundraiser. |
KENIA: If you are interested in trying out for a winter sport, you must hand in all of your forms to the athletics department at clearance. Clearance happens on Monday, November 14 and Tuesday, November 15 during both lunches and right after school at the indoor concession stand. Bring all of your completed forms and get a clearance sheet that allows you to try out! |
JESSICA: Are you interested in learning more about a career at teaching? Attend a field trip to the University of Maryland on Friday, December 2nd. You will get a tour of the campus, and meet with faculty and staff at the College of Education, to learn what their program has to offer. See Mrs. Jacobs Ivey in Room 142 for details and permission slips. First come, first served with the availability. |
KENIA: To brighten up your Tuesday, here’s an announcement from yearbook about baby pictures! |
(Baby pictures yearbook pack) |
JESSICA: Make sure to submit your own baby pictures, seniors! |
KENIA: Next week from 2:30 to about 4:00 everyday in room 162, Blair will be hosting an interracial dialogue. Last year, over 100 students attended each day. Many said it was the best experience they’d had all year. You can attend any or all days you want. |
JESSICA: The discussion will center on race issues in society, at Blair, and around the world. They will also talk about the most recent election. Come out and help lay the groundwork for moving forward in what may be incredible challenges for all of us. |
