SKYE: Good Morning, Blazers, today is Friday, September 17th. For those who observed Yom Kippur, we hope you had a meaningful fast. Welcome back to Infoflow, I’m SKYE.

YASMEEN: And I’m YASMEEN. Montgomery County has recently come out with their new covid playbook. The plan includes hiring a health liaison and creating a covid-19 advisory committee made up of employees, students, and community organizations to advise and provide guidance to the county. The plan also includes updating the covid online portal with more information about cases in schools and creating an outreach program to get families to opt into covid testing.

SKYE: After making landfall on Tuesday, Hurricane Nicholas ravaged parts of Texas and southern Louisiana with heavy rain and wind speeds of up to 95 miles per hour. Parts of Louisiana currently recovering from Ida were yet again underwater.

YASMEEN: The Biden Administration is working to protect Alaska’s Bristol Bay, one of the worlds best sockeye salmon fisheries, that unfortunately sits next to massive copper and gold mines. During Trump’s presidency, the administration removed the previous environmental protections for Bristol Bay, which caused some of the wildlife to die. If Biden’s plan is passed, a permanent protection plan can be made for the area.
