In local news, Montgomery County has reached 33,400 cases of COVID-19 and 912 deaths as of Tuesday, December 3rd ESHAN: In a sharply worded letter, the U.S. Navy condemned the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Capital Beltway Expansion project. The current plan would require land to be ceded from the naval base that houses Walter Reed Medical Center, a proposal that the Navy strongly opposes. The Navy requests that MDOT remove the acquisition of federal land from the project analysis. ALISON: Attention sophomores. The class council has launched the official Class of 23’ instagram account for Blair. Keep up with the account as President Janya Mustafa and Vice President Kevin Rha promote some super cool upcoming events. @mbhs_23 ESHAN: Are you interested in a $10,000 college scholarship? The American Leadership Foundation has opened up applications for this year's scholarship competition for all Blair seniors. The application is due on February 7 and is available at the website below. usleadership.org. ALISON: As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, Montgomery county’s assisted living homes and nursing homes make up 8% of the county’s total cases, that’s 2752 cases across the board. ESHAN: In a recent study from the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, people buying germ-killing UV lights are reporting irritation and damage to their eyes. When using such lights, following manufacturer's instructions is a must. It is recommended to leave the room when the UV light is in use. If you begin to display any symptoms such as irritation, pain, and sensitivity to light please seek immediate medical attention. ALISON: Now, let’s take a look about a new and innovative way to tour colleges during the COVID-19 pandemic! College Tour Pack ALISON: Wow, that’s really exciting!
