SHESH: In the news, The Ringling Brothers circus has shut down after 146 years of entertaining families. The world-famous show had very low attendance over the last few years, and recent protests over its treatment of animals have forced the owners to close the circus’ doors. Less than 24 hours later, the Big Apple circus announced that it would be declaring bankruptcy, and auctioning off its assets. |
TRUNK: The Learning Center for Young Children cooperative preschool is having its annual Winterfest Carnival on Saturday, February 4th from 10AM to 2PM (The snow date is Feb.11th) They are looking for high school student to help at the event to earn SSL hours! Volunteers will work with the preschoolers on crafts and carnival games. The school in located in the Warner Memorial Presbyterian Church in Kensington. Students can sign-up online at the link below. SHESH: Come out to audition for Blair’s spring musical, The Wiz! It’s the modern, multicultural version of The Wizard of Oz, and there’s no experience required! Ease on down the road to Room 16 to sign up for an audition time and pick up music and a contract. Dancers, actors, singers–we want you for the show! |
TRUNK: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA’)s Open House is on Saturday, February 11th from 8:30am – 4:30am. All high school students are invited to earn SSL hours for their volunteer efforts and do not even have to travel too far! SHESH: Calling all Blazers! Come to the first Blair Congress meeting of 2017! They will speak on current events in and out of school. If you have something to say or want to share ideas for this years school events, you should come to Blair Congress. It’s today in the library, after school from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. |
TRUNK: Attention All rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors! It’s that time again to register for your classes for next school year! Starting the week of January 23rd the scheduling program will be open to students. Students will get their registration sheet in their social studies class. Social studies teachers will guide students to log on to the program and enter their courses. The deadline for students to enter courses in January 31st. During February, all students will meet with their counselor to review and finalize their requests. All course bulletins are available on the Counseling web page. |
SHESH: Are you attending the Women’s March this Saturday? Come make posters and discuss the march TODAY in room 219 at 3:20! Women’s Advocacy Club will have snacks and posters available! |
TRUNK: The electives fair will be held today during both lunches along Blair Boulevard. All departments will be there to talk with students about courses for next year. |
