Show Intro
KENIA: Hey there, Blazers. Today is Friday, December 9th, 2016.
TRUNK: We’ve got another show for you today, but first, please stand for the pledge.
Pledge of Allegiance
KENIA: Welcome to Infoflow. I’m KENIA,
TRUNK: And I’m TRUNK, comin’ atcha with the joke of the day. So Kenia, How many tickles does it take to tickle an Octapus?
KENIA: I don’t know.
TRUNK: Tentacles!
KENIA: (Sarcastic laugh of disgust and pity). The weather today will be mostly sunny with a high of 39 and a low of 25. Stay warm blazers.
TRUNK: In the news, Giraffes are dying at an alarming rate and could face extinction if the trend doesn’t reverse, according to a new conservation report on animal populations worldwide. The report was released by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, which maintains the so-called Red List of species threatened with extinction. For the first time, the group now lists the giraffe as a“vulnerable” species, meaning it is “facing a high risk of extinction in the wild in the medium-term future”
KENIA: Silver Chips, our school newspaper, is hosting a forum for elementary school students to discuss their opinions on the past election. The discussion will be a key feature in the upcoming Silver Chips cycle. If you have any young family members that would be interesting in participating, please bring them to the Silver Spring Library on Saturday, December 10th from 10 AM – 2 PM.
TRUNK: Silver Chips is also searching for writers for their December guest column! They’d love if you send in about 500 words with your thoughts on the recent elections, the holidays, or anything you want. You can email submissions to silverchipsprint@gmail.com. If your column is picked to publish, in addition to getting published, you’ll also receive a holiday themed treat!
KENIA: Rolling Terrace Elementary School needs your help hosting a Community dinner.  10-15 student volunteers are needed to help set up the room, serve food, clean up, mingle with the families and help facilitate discussions and watch younger children. RTES serves a diverse community, and would really love to have a few bilingual volunteers who speak Amharic, French, or Spanish. The community dinner will be held at Rolling Terrace Elementary School from 5:30 to 8:45 PM on Thursday, December 15th. Contact Mrs. Hanak or Mrs. Hiscock in room 130 if you would like to help as a list of volunteers will need to be generated beforehand. SSL hours will be granted to any Montgomery Blair students who help out with the event.
