| YUCHABEL : In the news, Elon Musk, head of the technology company SpaceX, revealed his company’s design for an earth-to-mars transport spaceship. During the Tuesday unveiling of the plans, he predicted that the reusable ship will be able to transport 100 people for every 80-day trip to the red planet. Musk’s long-term plans are to establish a fully self-sustaining colony on Mars within 100 years. |
| SODA: The Montgomery County Board of Elections “Future Vote” Program is seeking Blair High School juniors/seniors to serve as paid election judges at polling places for the Presidential General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The application process requires both an online quiz and completion of hands-on training. All applicants who are selected for these positions will be compensated at rates that vary based on the position, as advertised at www.777vote.org. Individuals may earn up to 25 Student Service Learning (SSL) credits in lieu of a stipend, if they prefer. |
| YUCHABEL : The Buddy Walk is a one-mile walk to promote the understanding, inclusion, and acceptance of people with Down syndrome and is the Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County’s largest fundraiser. Please join them this Saturday October 1, at Avenel Park in Potomac from 10:30 to 2:00 to assist. The event is held rain or shine! Volunteers can earn SSL hours for their work and there are a variety of tasks that you can choose from! See Mrs. Hiscock in room 130 for more information! Don’t delay, make sure to choose your spot, today! |
| SODA: Blazers! The BLISS Online tutoring website is now available to all students! If you need help with homework, go to tutors.mbhs.edu to chat with online tutors. Use your student ID# and school password to log on. Tutors will be available from 4 to 10 PM on every day except Saturday. If you have any questions, feel free to email them at blissonlinetutors@gmail.com. |
| YUCHABEL : The deadline for submitting an application to Mu Alpha Theta honor society is Thursday, October 6th. If you’ve completed Algebra 2 and have a 3.0 math GPA, you’re eligible to join! Applications are still available on Ms. Hsu’s desk in 238. |
| SODA: Blair will have its first annual Bring Your Father to School Day tomorrow on Friday, September 30th. This event will be sponsored by Minority Scholars Program, Black CAP, & League of United Latin American Citizens. Fathers will have an opportunity to attend classes with their students and then participate in a Student versus Father Soccer event in the stadium during both lunches sponsored by the Blair Rec Zone. If you and your father are interested in participating in the Father versus Soccer Game please stop by the main office to sign-up. |
| YUCHABEL: Science National Honors Society is hosting Computer Science Day at Blair from 1:00 to 3:30 tomorrow on Friday, September 30. There will be guest speakers from industry, and students will learn about topics such as cybersecurity, microcontrollers, and smartphone programming! Contact snhs.mbhs@gmail.com for more details! |
