STEIN: And I’m Pirate Stein. Today in the news, over a quarter million dollars was donated to help victims of western wildfires.

STEIN: Ahoy! Did you do a cool activity this summer? Are you interested in earning an Academy Certificate for graduation? Sign up to do a Capstone Project with Ms. Blaha or your Academy lead teacher in Rm. 342!
SHAFER: ARR you interested in how the UN works? Join Model UN! You’ll get a really cool look into how the real UN works and you get to go to conferences around the DMV to meet people from all around the world and the seven seas!
STEIN: What ARR young people of Latin descent experiencing right now? What are the stereotypes about Asians? How do they affect them? How do muslim kids feel in their communities? Do people of color or LGBTQ kids feel heard? What role do white kids play in changing America? ARR pirates discriminated against?

SHAFER: Do you want to know more about Africa? Do you love dancing? Then you should join African Club.You get to try food from different classes, do performances. The first meeting is tomorrow at 2:45 in room 162.   
STEIN: Worried about your grades? Frustrated at the poor rollout of mymcps? Fear not! All your grades can be accessed through a few simple steps. Either access the portal through the resources tab of instructor, or by going to portal.mcpsmd.org. There ARR also 2 apps: “mymcps” for Apple devices, or “Montgomery Public Schools” for Android devices.
SHAFTER: If you like talking politics and fighting for change, then Blair’s Young Democrats Club is for you. The club will hold its first meeting of the year tomorrow in room 164. There will be swash-buckling snacks!
STEIN: Hey BlazARRs! Infoflow can no longer accept videos created by groups or clubs at Blair. We are, however, always open to collaborating with your club or program to produce a video. So if you want a video on Infoflow to promote your club or event, please stop by the studio during period 5 or 6 and our staff can help! You can also request a video via our website, bnconline.net. Just use the Submit News tab at the top of the page to request a video. Thanks!
SHAFER: Japanese Anime Club will have the first meeting tomorrow from 2:45 to 3:45 in room 226. Go check out the Japanese Anime Club to learn about Japanese culture and watch Japanese Anime.
STEIN: Did you volunteer over the summer?  If you would like to receive Student Service learning hours for your work, all forms must be submitted by Friday, September 29th. SSL Activity Verification forms can be submitted to the main office or to room 130. See Mrs. Sanchez if you have any questions.
SHAFER: Go check out wrestling! They have open mats at 3:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday in the wrestling room. To all Freshman and Sophomores especially, go check it out! No prior sports experience is needed.
STEIN: Blimey! The Academy Program is offering a new graduation certificate – the Global Education Certificate.  Find out how you can earn a personalized college recommendation letter and a special honor cord at graduation by doing a project to improve the lives of people around the world! SHAFER: Do you know things? Do you like knowing new things? If so, check out It’s ARRcademic, where they know things competitively! The first practice will be today in Room 215. Hope to see you there!
STEIN: Hey Freshmen! We know you ARR new to the school, but consider running for class office! Elections for freshman president and vice president ARR coming up soon. The first task of freshman class council is to decorate your class’ hallway during homecoming week, and president and vice president will be organizing this. Applications ARR due September 25th. Pick one up outside room 161 or go to sga.mbhs.edu to print one!
SHAFER: Do you love to sing? Are you a Soprano, Bass, Tenor, or Beatboxer? Are you free on Sunday afternoons? Then go audition for InToneNation, Blair’s student run ARRcapella group! They are holding auditions in room 5 during both lunches all next week! Sing ‘em a beautiful Sea Shanty!
