Show Intro
CATHERINE: Good morning, Blazers! Today is Thursday, May 18th, 2017.
KENIA: We’ve got a saucy show for you today, but first, please stand for the pledge.
Pledge of Allegiance
KENIA: Welcome to Infoflow! My name is Kenia.
CATHERINE: And I’m Catherine. In the news, a cock fighting ring in Northern Los Angeles County was busted earlier this week. Law enforcement on horseback recovered over seven thousand chickens, firearms, illegal narcotics, and syringes and steroids which were being used on the birds. In a press conference, L.A. county sheriff’s department captain Jeff Perry said that the operation was “very large” and located in a remote canyon.
KENIA: Today’s weather will be partially cloudy with a high of 92 and a low of 69.
CATHERINE: Do you want to relax, unwind, and create something fun? With a cup, some batteries, duct tape, and a piece of rubber tubing, you’ll be able to build a small motorized bot that lights up and spins. Blair media center’s first MakerSpace activity will be today after school. There will be two sessions, one at 2:30 and one after ninth period.
KENIA: Today is the last day to pick up your yearbook, so visit the Silverlogue tables during either lunch period.
CATHERINE: The Bob Long Journalism Award, created in honor of former News4 director and Blair student Bob Long, is open to all Blazers. Create a short video individually or in a group of two to be considered for a cash award. Submissions are due by May 21st. To find more information about the scholarship, visit bnconline.net.
KENIA: Every year, more than 100 volunteers work together to make the AFI Documentary Film Festival: Washington DC’s premier filmmaking event. Volunteers are needed to assist in all areas of the festival from June 14th through 18th, by working at the box office and ushering at screenings or providing key social media and photography support. Anyone interested can reach out to docsvolnteers@gmail.com or check out the link below. http://afi.com/afidocs/volunteer.aspx
CATHERINE: The 2017 Sankofa performance is now available on DVD for the low, low price of $10. You can purchase your copy by going to bnconline.net and clicking on the store tab at the top of the page, or you can swing by the TV studio, room 102, and pick up a copy in person. Act fast!
