Pledge of Allegiance
KENIA: Welcome to Infoflow! My name is Trunk.
CATHERINE: And I’m Soda. In the news, a local Tennessee musician set fire to himself and ran into a bar while streaming it on Facebook Live via his cell phone. The man suffered severe burns and nobody else was hurt. He allegedly did it to get back at his girlfriend, who had recently broken up with him.
KENIA: Today’s weather will be sunny with a high of 80 and a low of 60.
CATHERINE: Silver Chips’ 2017 senior issue is coming out in June and they’d like to feature every graduating senior. Please let Chips know what your plans are for next year so that they can publish your name and “senior destination” in the June 2017 issue. Visit the link below to fill out the survey. https://tinyurl.com/silverchipsseniors
KENIA: If you want to support the junior class, head on out to Chipotle today after school. The junior class council is holding a fundraiser, and 50% percent of the proceeds from the food you buy goes towards Blair.
CATHERINE: Do you want to relax, unwind, and create something fun? With a cup, some batteries, duct tape, and a piece of rubber tubing, you’ll be able to build a small motorized bot that lights up and spins. Blair media center’s first MakerSpace activity will be on Thursday, May 18 after school. There will be two sessions, one at 2:30 and one after ninth period.
KENIA: It’s yearbook distribution week! Visit the Silverlogue table in the SAC during either lunch, Tuesday through Thursday of this week.
CATHERINE: Go see everyone’s favorite student run a capella group in concert! Intonenation’s final concert is this Friday at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. This special performance will include an epic beatbox battle and the exclusive release of several new songs.
KENIA: The Student Government Association is accepting applications for next school year. If you’re looking to be in the 5th period leadership class, pick up an application outside of the SGA office, room 161, today. Applications are due by tomorrow.
CATHERINE: The Bob Long Journalism Award, created in honor of former News4 director and Blair student Bob Long, is open to all Blazers. Create a short video individually or in a group of two to be considered for a cash award. Submissions are due by May 21st. To find more information about the scholarship, visit bnconline.net.
KENIA: Every year, more than 100 volunteers work together to make the AFI Documentary Film Festival: Washington DC’s premier filmmaking event. Volunteers are needed to assist in all areas of the festival from June 14th through 18th, by working at the box office and ushering at screenings or providing key social media and photography support. Anyone interested can reach out to docsvolnteers@gmail.com or check out the link below. http://afi.com/afidocs/volunteer.aspx
CATHERINE: Montgomery County Regional SGA is hosting the second annual Montgomery County Ted Talk. It will be held tomorrow from 6-8 PM at Richard Montgomery. There will be several esteemed speakers, including former SMOB and FiscalNote CEO Tim Hwang, as well as Blair’s very own Marley Majette.
